We encounter Underdogs everyday, in our day-to-day life. Be it in any place, any company, or organization, any sports-team or politician. There is no field where underdogs are non-existent. Underdogs are those people, or that group, which is never expected to win. One always favors the top dogs, or the favorite dogs, who are the expected winners in any event or competition. The event or the competition, in which the underdog defeats the favored party, is usually recognized as an upset.

Underdogs from the Corporate World

We generally come across or hear stories about underdogs mostly from the corporate world. These people are generally not expected to enhance their skills or progress in the corporate field, or their business.
They are considered laid-back, without any proper knowledge as such. These underdogs struggle to find an appropriate identity, but they are mostly ignored by other people. The main mistake of the public is the underestimation of the underdogs’ capability. The main strength of the underdog lies in the confidence present in him, and the belief that he can be as good as, infact better than the other people can.

Underdog management can be understood in terms of the underdog not letting go of his confidence, his burning desire to prove his mettle, or his capability to the other person. If the underdog manages to hold his front, boost up his skills of communication and persuasion about his capability to the other person, then people won’t have the same perception about him any longer, as the status of an underdog changes rapidly with changing circumstances.
